Let's Go coyotes!

Welcome to the Tornillo High School – home to the Mighty Coyotes. Tornillo High School is Tornillo Independent School District’s newest high school, completed in August 2012. THS boasts modern sports facilities and grounds, state-of-the-start, student-friendly technology centers, and a great faculty of ambitious teachers ready to give Tornillo students the best high school experience.

Tornillo High School was built to serve our growing community; more than 20% of our students are from families who’ve lived in Tornillo for less than two years. In order to meet the needs of 21st century learning trends, our high school offers numerous modern educational programs that will ensure that your child becomes a successful member of our increasingly technologically-enabled society.

Addressing the need for school nurses in Tornillo (please read the email below from Ms. April Baldwin with Nursing, org for more information and resources)

There is a lack of school nurses in the U.S., and this deficiency is most acutely felt by poor, urban schools – at its worst, there’s only one school nurse for every 4,000 students. For students living in poverty, school nurses often act as their primary, if not only, channel of accessing healthcare. On top of this, children chronic illnesses are at an all-time high and a broader RN shortage is on the horizon. It’s thus more important than ever to encourage individuals to pursue a career in school nursing and help keep our youth healthy.

With this in mind, my team at Nursing.org put together a helpful guide breaking down what becoming a school nurse entails. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for individuals to decide whether this career path is right for them and how to proceed, if so:

We also created a resource for nurses in Texas specifically. It includes state-specific licensure requirements and career outlook information: https://www.nursing.org/online-programs/texas/

In order to keep our students healthy and help them access the greater healthcare system, it’s vital to encourage individuals to continue the work of school nurses before them.
Please help us reach your readers by adding links to these resources on the Tornillo High School website: http://hs.tisd.us/

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Warmly,

April Baldwin
